What the trip charge is actually for
We are not putting figures on this page until we have agreed them with you in writing. The structure, though, is worth knowing before you book.
(406) 555-0114- Your section's day costs least
- The truck is already going to Victor on a Thursday. Adding you to that run is a share of a trip, not a trip.
- Off-day calls cost more
- Because they are a truck and a person leaving the clinic for you alone. We will always tell you what day would be cheaper before you book.
- Neighbours can split it
- Two places on the same road on the same morning is one trip fee between you. Ring and say so — we cannot work it out from the booking.
- The work itself is the same either way
- Only the trip changes. Nothing about the examination or the medicine is priced differently because of when we came.
What we do out there
- Routine herd work
- Pregnancy checking, vaccination, castration, and the paperwork that goes with moving animals. Booked on your section's day.
- Equine dentistry and lameness
- Floating, sedation where needed, and a starting workup for a horse that is off. Complex lameness gets referred and we will say so early.
- Calving and lambing problems
- During opening hours. Ring the clinic first — a description on the phone often changes what we bring in the truck.
- Pre-purchase examination
- For horses. Booked as a farm call to wherever the animal is, with the report written the same day.
- Small ruminant work
- Sheep and goats, including the flock health questions that nobody in town can answer for a six-animal flock.
