Questions

Five, and the first one is always the same.

Do I need a partner?
No. This is a bouldering gym — the walls are low, the floor is mats, and nobody holds a rope for anybody. Turning up alone is the normal way to use the place and about half the room on any evening came in on their own.
What should I wear, and do I need to rent anything?
Anything you can move in, and shoes for five dollars at the desk. Climbing shoes are the only kit that matters and yours will be fine for months. There is no harness, no belay device, and no chalk requirement.
Is there a test before I can climb?
No belay test, because there is nothing to belay. You sign a waiver and watch a four-minute video about falling and about not standing underneath people, and then you climb. If you would rather have a person walk you through it, the intro session runs twice a week.
How often do the problems change?
Every section is reset on a four-week rotation, and one section changes most weeks. The dates for all seven are published on the wall page and updated as we go, so you can see what is new before you drive over.
Is there an age minimum for children?
Five to climb with a parent within arm's reach, eight to join the youth team, and fourteen to climb without an adult in the building. Under-eighteens need a parent's signature on the waiver, which can be done in advance.
