How much is the work?

It is on the label, on the wall, next to the piece — and on this site. Most shows here run from about two hundred dollars for something in the flat file up to five thousand for a large canvas. Nobody has to ask, which is the whole point, because asking is what stops people who have never bought art from ever starting.

Can I pay in instalments?

Yes, over six months, interest free, on anything over five hundred dollars. A third at the start and the rest across five payments. The work stays here until it is paid, or goes home with you at the halfway point if you would rather — most people would rather.

What does the artist get?

Accepted Answer

Sixty percent of the sale price on original work, fifty on editions. That is published because a gallery split is normally a thing you find out by asking an artist, and it seems better for a buyer to know where their money goes.

Do I need an appointment?

No. Wednesday to Sunday, noon to six, walk in. Appointments outside those hours are fine and are usually people who want to look at something without anyone else in the room, which is a completely reasonable thing to want.

Can I see something in my home first?

Within Chicago, yes, for anything under about three thousand dollars — we bring it, you live with it for a week, and you owe nothing if it comes back. About half of them come back and that is fine.

Do you ship?

Yes, anywhere in the US, at cost. Works on paper go flat in a crate; canvases go on a stretcher unless they are large, in which case they travel rolled and you have them stretched at the other end. We will tell you which before you buy.

Ground floor, street door, and nobody will look up when you come in.
