What goes in
Every line has a reason, because a rule without one gets ignored.
Goes in
Flattened cardboard, dry
The single most valuable thing you produce.
Office paper, whole sheets
Staples are fine. Paper clips are fine.
Cans, empty, lids in
A rinse is enough. They do not need washing.
Bottles and jars, separate bin
Lids off, labels on, no need to rinse hard.
Clean film and pallet wrap
Only if it is genuinely clean and dry.
Does not
Shredded paper
It falls through every screen in the plant. Bin it, or better, do not shred what you do not have to.
Coffee cups
Plastic lined. They are not paper and the mill rejects a bale that has them in it.
Anything with food on it
Grease contaminates a bale. Half a pizza box is the classic.
Bagged recycling
A bag goes to landfill unopened. Loose in the bin, always.
Glass in the commingled bin
It shatters and gets into the paper. This is why we collect it separately.
Electronics, batteries, or anything with a cord
Different licence, different truck. We will point you at one.
If you only remember one thing: nothing in a bag. A bagged load is not opened at the plant, so it goes to landfill however carefully it was sorted inside the bag.
