How long does a re-roof take?

Two to three days for a typical house here, weather permitting, and we will not start a tear-off if the forecast is against us. Metal takes about a week. The crew clears the site each evening — nobody sleeps under an open roof.

Can you repair instead of replace?

Accepted Answer

Often, and we would rather. A roof with sound shingles and bad flashing needs flashing, not eleven thousand dollars of new shingles. The assessment separates what is failing from what is merely old for exactly this reason, and about a third of assessments end in a repair.

What does the quote include?

The tear-off, disposal, ice and water barrier, underlayment, shingles, all flashing, ridge and intake ventilation, permit, and a set price per sheet for any deck replacement found once it is open. It also lists what is excluded. Nothing is discovered on day two.

How do you handle an insurance claim?

We give you the drawing and the assessment and you give it to your adjuster. We will meet them on site. What we will not do is knock on your door after a storm, tell you your roof is destroyed, and offer to cover your deductible — that last one is illegal in Ohio and it happens here every spring.

What warranty is there?

Ten years on our workmanship, in writing, transferable once if you sell. The shingle itself carries whatever the manufacturer offers and that is between you and them — we are not accredited by any manufacturer and will not pretend a longer warranty is ours to give.

Do you work in winter?

Accepted Answer

Repairs, yes. Full tear-offs, only above about forty degrees, because shingles need warmth to seal and a roof laid cold in January is a roof that blows off in March. If it is cold we will tarp it properly and book you for spring rather than take the money now.
