The list of what we will refuse is as long as the list of what we buy.

Purchasing and recovery of recyclable scrap, obsolete equipment, surplus office assets, and selected industrial materials, with scheduled pickups and documented removal. Knowing what we cannot take is more useful to you than a page of promises about what we can.

What EcoCycle is not

  • Not a permitted hazardous-waste handler.
  • Not a certified electronics recycler.
  • We do not issue certificates of recycling or of data destruction.

If your policy requires any of those, use a certified provider. We will name one.

What we accept

Six streams, with the minimum volume that makes a truck worth sending.

Below these thresholds the trip costs more than the material returns. We would rather tell you now than send a truck and invoice you for it.

Materials accepted, with pricing basis, minimum volume, and notes
MaterialWhat that coversBasisMinimumNote
Ferrous scrapSteel, cast iron, structural offcuts, machine framesPurchased1,000 lbPriced against published market indices on the day we weigh it, not the day you called.
Non-ferrous scrapCopper, aluminium, brass, stainlessPurchased200 lbSorted and weighed on arrival. You get the ticket with grades listed separately.
Obsolete IT equipmentServers, desktops, laptops, network gear, monitorsNo charge10 unitsCollected and passed to qualified downstream partners. Read the limits section below before you plan around this.
Office furnitureDesks, chairs, filing, shelving, partitionsService feeHalf a truckloadCharged because most of it costs more to move than it returns. Quoted after a site assessment.
Surplus industrial assetsMachinery, tooling, motors, drives, unused inventoryPurchasedAssessed individuallyValuation depends on resale potential rather than scrap weight, so these are quoted after we look.
Cable and wireInsulated copper, data cable, harnessesPurchased100 lbPriced by recoverable copper content, which is lower than gross weight — we will show you the calculation.

What we will not take

Six things that come off the truck, or never go on it.

Every one of these needs a permitted handler that we are not. Plan for them separately, and we will give you a name if you do not have one.

Hazardous waste of any kind
We are not a hazardous-waste handler and hold no permit to be one. This includes solvents, paints, oils, chemicals, and anything bearing a hazard label.
Batteries, lamps, and ballasts
Lithium and lead-acid batteries, fluorescent tubes, and older ballasts require a permitted handler. We will give you the name of one; we will not take them.
Refrigerant-bearing equipment
Refrigerators, chillers, and air-conditioning units need certified refrigerant recovery before scrapping. Have that done first and we will take the metal afterwards.
Medical or biohazard material
Any item that has been in contact with clinical waste, regardless of how it has been cleaned.
Sealed drums or unlabelled containers
If we cannot see what is inside it, it does not go on the truck.
Data-bearing media where certified destruction is required
We are not a certified electronics recycler and do not issue certificates of data destruction. If your policy requires one, use a certified provider — see the note on our documentation page.

Documentation

Five documents, and one of them is not a certificate.

Organized pickup coordination, transparent valuation, documented chain of custody, and responsible downstream handling through qualified partners.

What each one contains
  1. 01

    Site assessment note

    Before collection

What is there, what we will take, what we will not, and how it comes out of the building. Sent to you in writing before anything is scheduled.

  2. 02

    Collection manifest

    At pickup

Itemised list of what left your site, signed by your representative and our driver. Both parties keep a copy.

  3. 03

    Weight ticket

    Within 24 hours

Certified scale weights with grades listed separately, so you can see how the total was reached rather than being handed one number.

  4. 04

    Settlement statement

    With payment

Weight, grade, index price used, and the date it was applied. If the market moved between pickup and processing, you can see which day we priced against.

  5. 05

    Downstream summary

    On request

Which qualified partner received each material stream. This is a record of where material went — it is not a certificate of recycling, and we do not issue one.
