Denver, and virtually everywhere else

The year ahead

Twelve months, every deadline, and whose job each one is.

Most of the anxiety in small-business finance is not arithmetic. It is a date nobody told you about. Here is the whole year, in advance.

  • We handle it

  • You send us something

Due 15 April, along with Q1 estimated payments.

    • Q1 estimate

We send the voucher and the amount three weeks ahead.

  5. May

    • Quiet month

      We handle it

Monthly close continues. Good month for a planning conversation.

  6. June

    • Q2 estimate

      We prepare, you sign

      Due 15 June.

    • Mid-year review

      You send us something

Fifteen minutes on the phone. We look at whether your estimates are still right.

Due 15 September if extended in March.

  10. October

    • Extended personal returns

      We prepare, you sign

Due 15 October. This is the last date; there is no further extension.

    • Q3 payroll returns

      We handle it

      Form 941 and state filings.

  11. November

    • Year-end planning

      You send us something

The only month where a conversation can still change your tax bill. We book these in early November.

  12. December

    • Equipment and retirement decisions

      We prepare, you sign

Anything you want to affect this tax year has to happen before 31 December.

    • Contractor details collected

      You send us something

W-9s for anyone you paid over $600, so January is not a scramble.

Dates shift when they fall on a weekend or a federal holiday, and we check them against the current IRS calendar every year. You will get a reminder three weeks before anything that needs you.

Bookkeeping, payroll support, tax preparation, and financial reporting for professionals and growing small businesses. If we send you something you cannot read, we have done our job badly and you should tell us.

Three things we will never do

  • Ask you to email a document with your Social Security number on it.
  • Do work outside your package without telling you the price first.
  • Explain something in language you have to look up.

Three packages, and what each one leaves out.
