- Distance and lane balance
- A loaded run into a region we struggle to load out of costs more than the mileage suggests. Grand Rapids to Chicago prices better than the reverse for exactly this reason.
- Weight and pallet count
- Under about eight pallets, LTL is usually cheaper. Over twelve, truckload usually wins. Between the two, we will run both numbers for you.
- Appointment windows
- A two-hour receiving window at the destination costs more than a same-day window, because it puts the driver's hours at risk.
- Seasonality
- Late Q4 and the weeks around produce season tighten capacity across the Midwest. We will tell you when you are quoting into a tight week.
